Perched high up on the flank of Square Top Mountain near Pagosa Springs, Colorado, 450 Bear Run Place borders thousands of acres of National Forest. The main cabin is a wood, stone, and brick hobbit house that looks out across the Upper Blanco River Basin to the spectacular Chalk Mountains and the South San Juan Wilderness. The cabin home is designed according to passive solar principles: warm in the winter, cool in the summer. In addition to the main cabin, there are 3 other small bedroom cabins for guests or family members who want a quiet retreat. An RV space with electrical access is located at the top of the first section of driveway. The entire complex is rustic and simple and spiritually nourishing. The property is visited by chipmunks, squirrels, many species of birds, turkeys, fox, deer, bobcats, bear, and even the occasional mountain lion. For people familiar with the South San Juan Mountains, there is nearby trail access to Opal Lake, V Rock trail, Fish Creek, and the Continental Divide Trail. At the end of Bear Run Place, the Ruby Trail offers an easy and beautiful 3 mile round trip walk from the cabin. In winter there is snowshoeing and cross country skiing access, and not far away Wolf Creek Ski Resort offers world class skiing. The 1.6 acre property is part of a neighborhood association that provides a community well whose water is pristine and delicious. The Association also provides 2 miles of private access to excellent fishing along the Blanco River.
